Huntington Capital Expands Team

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. (September 13, 2013) – Huntington Capital (“Huntington”), a San Diego based mezzanine debt and private equity fund focused on the lower-middle market in the western United States, has announced the additions of Frank Mora as Principal and a member of the firm’s investment committee and Nicolas Lopez as Senior Associate.    

Frank joined the team in February of 2013 from DBI Capital, a Southern California based lower middle market private equity buyout group where he was responsible for sourcing and structuring investment transactions, including co-investments into two Huntington portfolio companies. He immediately got involved with the existing portfolio companies while sourcing and structuring new investment opportunities for Huntington’s newest investment vehicle, Huntington Capital Fund III.  Founding partner Morgan Miller stated that Frank has been working with the team at Huntington for several years through common co-investments and we are delighted to have him become a partner in our firm.  “It’s with much enthusiasm that I join the management team at Huntington and I look forward to contributing to the already stellar reputation that Huntington has in the marketplace”. Before joining DBI, Frank was a Vice President in the Fixed Income Capital Markets team at Citigroup specializing in Private Placements. Prior to joining Citigroup, he was an officer in the Venture Capital team within the Economic Development Bank for Puerto Rico.  Frank holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a dual concentration in Accounting and Finance and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.

Nicolas Lopez joined the team in June of 2013 from Best Buy Capital where he served as an associate.  While at Best Buy Capital, Nick helped identify, evaluate and underwrite strategic investment opportunities in partnership with cross-functional business groups within the organization. Managing Partner Tim Bubnack commented “Nick’s background in investment banking, strategic investing and corporate development adds additional attributes to our team and the value creation contributions we strive to bring to our portfolio companies”.  Before joining Best Buy, Nicolas worked with FMV Capital Markets LLC in investment banking and investment management. Nicolas attended San Diego State University, earning a B.S. in Business Administration, and the University of Southern California, earning an M.B.A.  He is also a CFA charter-holder.
